Big Beads

Last week, I was fortunate enough to take an all day class with the marvelous Sarah Shriver! It was hosted by our wonderful guild (AZPCG). Sarah creates these beautiful large size beads which are ultra light.  Here is a picture of Sarah showing us how to make these large size beads. You can check out her website by clicking here!

It took us most of the day to make molds and work on Skinner blends. Her class taught me a lot about Skinner blends, manipulating canes, and applying veneers.
I actually made two Skinner blends but was drawn to the pink/purple Skinner blend for my first large bead...not quite sure why I have been in a pink color mood lately. I threw in a little turquoise color into my blend as well. But I have to say once I had my huge bead, I couldn't decide what to do with it. I think I wrestled with that for two to three days. I also created some earrings from the cane to match my necklace. The earrings will be included in my 52 Pair of Earrings Challenge which I am so behind on but have not forgotten.

It has been awhile since I've liked something that I have created. I was starting to wonder if my creative mojo was starting to run out...impossible!  In fact, I signed up for a copper etching class through my wonderful friend Cat Kerr, called Inspirational Pendants through Shabby Cottage Studio. I can't wait to start! It had to take the back burner till I was done with Sarah's class...glad that it is an on-line class. Hoping to start that class this week, although my daughter is ready to have her baby anytime this week which could be an interruption, but one I will gladly take!

Well, Veteran's Day is celebrated today so I just wanted to give a shout out to all the veterans and their families...A HUGE thank you for your service and sacrifice!! It has been a weekend of celebrating for me...Marines's 237 Birthday (my hubby is a marine vet), my son passed a test for a possible job opportunity (he goes through the interviewing process this week), and Veteran's day!  Thank goodness my hubby smoked some meat to celebrate...that should last me for a few days and less cooking for me!

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!!
