Faux Bone Tutorial and 52 Pairs of Earrings Challenge

I finally got around to playing with SCDiva's Faux Bone and Ivory Tutorial. I have been having so much fun with this tute! Here are some of my creations. I still have another set on my work table to finish (sanding and buffing).

I added some shell beads/connectors to give it a little color. These are my first pair of earrings for the 52 Pair of Earrings Challenge. I decided to go for the challenge hosted by Anke-Anart Island Studio

The Faux Bone tute also worked well for making toggles, which I knew it would.

I will have to try these out to see how well they work in a design.  These are my first, so I may have to change up the design a little if these don't work out like I think they will. Thank you Lynda from SCDiva for such a nice gift! If you would like to purchase her Faux Bone and Ivory here.

Well, back to work...51 pair of earrings left to make! What was I thinking!  But according to my friend Bonnie, who makes quite of few of problem!

Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Polymer Clay Smoosher's First Challenge of the Year

Well, I got a little sidetracked with what I originally was going to start the year with. As I was catching up on things (on the net), I came across our next theme for Polymer Clay Smoosher's Monthly Challenge: Valentine's.  Perfect timing, since I came across a fun tute by Cara Jane (Sleeping Cat Tutorial).  I decided to try and cover a small tin with polymer clay and use my polymer clay sleeping cat for the top of the tin. I got my idea from a stamp that I had in my small collection of stamps. This creation is a little different from what I usually do, but I was pleased with the finished piece.

You're Purrfect Valentine Tin Can

I took an old striped flower cane and cut out hearts and attached them around the bottom of tin. I also used Lumiere paints and painted over silver polymer clay to match the silver on the tin. This should make a nice little Valentine's gift for the cat lover...perfect for mints, candy, and chocolates!

I have already seen some beautiful entries for this month's challenge from other fellow artists from our guild, so I'm back to the drawing board to make another entry for our monthly challenge, plus get cracking on another tute that is laying on my work table...not enough claytime in the day for me!

Have a nice day and thanks for stopping by!

Last Day for Bead Soup Blog Party Signups!

Today is the last day to sign up for Lori Anderson's Bead Soup Blog Party!  If you haven't participated, you should give it a try. It is so much fun!  This time around, Lori is has changed the format a little, so go to her site to get all the details.

I signed up yesterday and hoping that I will be on the list, but if I am not, that is blog hopping and looking at all the beautiful creations!

I didn't work on anything over the holidays. I came down with the cold right after Christmas, though I did receive some nice tools from my hubby.  Some great metal punchers and Vintaj BIGKick machine.  So looking foward to trying them out! Started off my year getting in shape. This is the year to concentrate on my health, so I had to get into a good routine before adding other stuff to my schedule.

I am also working on getting a few things up on my studio which I made awhile back ago but didn't sell. I also received a nice tutorial (Faux Bone and Ivory) from SCDiva which I am dying to try out...thinking it will be the first thing I dive into.  Now that my studio is clean and tidy, there should be no more excuses!

This is the cleanest that it has been in awhile (minus the dog's toy in the room...he leaves his toys everywhere)!  I am also waiting for some future Income Tax money in the spring so I can paint it. It used to be my son's old room and still has quite a bit of holes in the walls, but it suits me just fine for now. I am waiting patiently to take another larger room in my house after it is not occupied any longer...special things come to those who wait patiently.

Well, don't forget about the Bead Soup Blog Party signups! And thanks for stopping by my blog today and have an awesome day!
